The Village of Lyons is the county seat of Wayne County, NY and located in the Town of Lyons east of Rochester. The village and the town were named after Lyon, France. The village was settled around 1794 and incorporated in 1833. The Erie Canal once passed through the village, but was rerouted in the 1850's.
