Wayne County Towns & Villages Wayne County is east of Monroe County along Lake Ontario and is part of the Rochester, NY Metropolitan Statistical Area. The county was named after General Anthony Wayne, a Revolutionary War hero.
The County Seat is in the Village of Lyons and the county is governed by a Board of Supervisors made up of the Town Supervisor from each of the towns in the county.

Major Routes
Major east-west routes from Rochester include NY 104 and Route 31. Route 14 is one of the primary north-south routes connecting routes 104 and 31 with Interstate 90, Route 20, Route 5, Watkins Glen and the City of Elmira.
