2007-02-12 14:16:31   My companion and I went in for dinner last Saturday and found it alarmingly empty - only a couple tables were in use. The interior was a bit "dineresque" in appearance, and could definitely use some improvement. Our appetizer was something of a mediterranean quesadilla, consisting of escarole lettuce sandwiched between two crispy toasted pitas. The flavor was very mild but pleasant. I ordered a cornish game hen, which was cooked properly. It was accompanied by kibbe (substituting for the normal accompaniment of which the kitchen ran out) which was alright, but not as good as the kibbe at Sinbad's. It also came with a side of rice and vegetables which was tasty, but a little on the mild side. My companion ordered a Madras Salad, which was a curried chicken salad with currants and spices atop a greek salad. It came with a poppy-seed and berry dressing that she pronounced "ridiculously good". For dessert the baklava was excellent (and big enough for two). If you like your baklava moist and gooey (and I do), then this is among the best. —EastSideStephen

2007-05-01 13:43:18   Sahara is a fantastic restaurant. I recommend the tabuleh (mostly parsley, very tasty - the best tablueh in town) and the falafel, which are by far better than any other falafel you will find in Rochester. The crispy outer shell breaks through to a moist, perfectly-balanced blend of spices. I also recommend the tzatziki soup (for a cold, refreshing summer lunch) or the yentil soup (for a more hearty, dinner-time appetizer - great with a glass of one of their many selections of red wine). —TropTerrine

2007-08-29 19:27:11   We just had a very nice meal here. Lots of menu overlap with other restaurants of this type but I guess that can't be helped. Our appetizer (Hummus) was prepared a little differently than other places but was yummy. Entrees were also delicious, ingredients seemed fresh, nice flavor. We'll be back to try more.

Keep your eyes open either when you are at the restaurant or if they advertise, once a month they have belly dance performers here for the evening and do a special dinner to go along with the dancing. We have not had a chance to attend yet but hope to provide a full report, maybe next month!
