SewGreen@Rochester is a fiber-oriented nonprofit organization under the auspices of the Finger Lakes Area Community Endowment. They welcome donations of unwanted fabric, yarn, buttons, lace, ribbons, zippers and fasteners, polyfill, batting, pillow forms, sewing tools (including sewing machines), knitting needles, crochet hooks, and other fiber-arts-related items for upcycling. They have a retail location in the 19th Ward that includes a brightly-lit workspace. Classes and lessons are available. They welcome volunteers interested in tending to the shop and/or teaching sewing, knitting, crocheting and other needlearts.
They do not accept clothing, drapes, bed linens, old stuffing, throw pillows, foam rubber, slip covers, feathers or fur.
