2009-04-28 17:33:23 Summerville is a great place to eat. I lived down in 'Summerville' area for four years. My first experience was in 2003. I walked in and was greeted by the owner (Barb) and she sat me down for my meal. I was alone. The atmosphere at "the grill" is top notch. A small building separated in two sections. One side is the bar and one side is the dinner area w/ plenty of tables and a few booths along the windows. The bar has three booths, so if you want to eat dinner and mingle with the people at the bar or watch your favorite sports game, this is the place for you.
The menu is amazing. Some people are shocked, and don't expect such great food here if they are new.
Highlights on the menu that I recommend for dinner are:
Seafood:
Friday Fish Fry (HUGE!) w/ ample fries, homemade cole slaw and veggies.
King Crab Legs (they are goooood! and worth every penny!) Don't get the snow crab. Pony up for the KING!
Shrimp Scampi (huge portion w/ JUMBO shrimp)
Italian:
Sometimes, their Lasagna is on special. Made thick and yummy. You'll be stuffed!
I am not a huge Italian eater, so you'll have to come see for yourself. You won't be disappointed.
Bar Side:
All the way up until around 1:30 AM the bartender will cook for you. Anything from HUGE Potato Skins to French Fries w/ Blue Cheese!
Side salad w/ soup is cheap, too! I think $3? A small side salad w/ soup of the day.
Bottom line:
Summerville Grill food is amazing. The cooks are very very good and have skill. The deserts are up there with what you would get in PARIS.
The bar scene: Don't forget it IS a bar, too! Usually, the dinner crowd is out by 9:45...and on Fridays and Saturdays, you can find the place hopping with anyone from the ages of 21 to 80! Lots of regulars and its a lot of fun.
They have a nice juke box and a dart board. Really nice owners and the bartenders have been there for years. I believe the bartender on Wed-thursdays, Jeff, has been there for 15-20 yrs. JImmy, Friday and Saturday has been there for about 10. They will treat you well. Great drink specials. And, finally, when you do make it to the bar, ask one of the bartenders to "spin the wheel" Be sure to put your glass on a number. If the wheel stops on your number, you get a free drink! Wheels spins 2 times an hr usually. Pick 10 — I used to win on it all the time.
Also, they have quick draw.
2010-02-14 12:15:36 I discovered this little place last summer, it is a great place to eat. The food is always delicious, the service is very pleasant and courteous. My favorite dish is the salmon with mashed potatoes for dinner, portions always leave plenty to take home. A friend of mine is also enjoys the seafood, they have a great variety of it at reasonable prices. Five stars from me for a quick meal in a neighborhood bar atmosphere. —LissaaW
2011-07-30 15:28:38 C -. Went last night for the 1st time. Nice neighbor joint. For dinner everyone in my party had fish fry which looked very good. Even the breaded looked good which appeared to be breaded with panko bread crumbs, yum. The fries with the fish however were undercooked. I ordered scallops that were cooked quite nicely. The sides on the other hand were awful! Left over stiff microwaved mashed potatoes and limp lifeless vegetables. I would go back but maybe stick to the fish fry and ask for well done fries. —NewtonNola
