2005-06-25 10:55:04   I heard to owner hwas pretty millitant about doing/supervising all of the cooking him/herself, and burnt out, so it's closed until they find a new cook. Just a rumor though... —FarMcKon

2005-06-25 12:42:23   I met the owner/cook once while eating there. She seemed very nice. Her food was very fresh and the portions were decent. I did wonder though how she was able to offer such an abundance of good fresh food and still stay in business. —JasonWilder

2005-11-15 21:55:43   RIP. This was one of my favorite quirky eateries in town; the atmosphere was so colorful and the food always super fresh. I hope the owner reopens! —MariahBetz

2005-12-17 23:06:40   This is a second downtown vegetarian joint that went out of business. Remember the Mission Cafe? Whatever happened to that? —RyderStrong

2005-12-18 15:54:56   I think the Mission Cafe ladies re-opened as something else. I think one of them own's Skippy's now.. —MariahBetz

2006-04-23 00:58:29   MariahBetz, you're thinking of Slice of Life Cafe in the South Wedge. Slice of Life closed, but one of the owners or cooks (Skippy) opened a restaurant in the same place called Skippy's. The Mission was located on Monroe, in half of the space now occupied the The Roc (if that's still open). It closed a few years before the Eggplant opened. About half the dishes on the Atomic Eggplant's menu came from The Mission's menu. I belive at one point an ex-Mission cook worked at the Atomic Eggplant. —AlanStorm

2006-06-03 05:53:23   Looking for the recipe for a chocolate cake allegedly served @ the AE. Anyone have it? Anyone able to point me in the right direction? Is the cake a myth? Did it come from an outside bakery? —SteveCampo

2008-05-01 20:42:42   I went to Abundance today and noticed the big Atomic Eggplant sign has been taken down and the lawn has been seeded. Has someone bought the house? Anyone have any information? —RochesterRed

2008-06-18 16:51:01   I still miss the Eggplant. My mom is not a vegetarian and she loved the place. —CarolLucky
