The Refinery is a large mixed-use complex made up of several interconnected buildings overlooking the Genesee River, at the intersection of Exchange Street and Flint Street in the Plymouth-Exchange neighborhood. The complex was originally built between the 1860s and 1930s by the Vacuum Oil Company. After the original plant closed, the site was used by many other businesses over the years, including Kolko Paper Company and Foodlink. Environmental testing and remediation work was initiated in 2015 to prepare the site for continued use and redevelopment, and new tenants have begun moving in.
