2007-02-18 11:05:33 In the opinon of the guys that started off Rocwiki, we generall agreed some humor, light sarcasm, jokes would be part of the tone of the site. Wikipedia lost a lot of it's charachter as it grew, argueabily it had to, and we wanted to keep some of RocWiki's. We didn't talk about it much, but we generally agreed snarky comments, insight or 'commentary' would be allowed unless it was clearly offensive to someone, of a personal nature, etc. That said, they aren't the active folks on the site much. I still think (and would like to convince others) that the 'voice' of Rocwiki should have a bit of attitude, and should not fear pointing out that we are phillistines. —FarMcKon
2007-06-06 16:55:28 You'll, uh, need a new Complaints Department. I nominate you, Far! —DaveMahon
2007-06-06 17:00:14 Oh. I just read your blog. You'll be missed. Good luck in Philly! —DaveMahon
2007-12-11 20:16:50 I think that in light of recent events, we would benefit from consolidating and expanding the Etiquette, Offenses and Not Offenses pages to make the RocWiki spirit clearer and more transparent for contributors. —DaveMahon
2008-03-23 15:42:02 I would allow editing comments format besides page links for clarity: posting comments from some browsers (Safari on Mac is one of them) results in a left aligned text in a ugly narrow column. Moreover, the 1000 chars limit is silly and easily worked-around. Let's allow comment consolidation. —AndreaCogliati
2008-03-23 15:54:53 I never knew it was Safari that caused those strangely formatted comments. I'm a Firefox guy myself. Anyway, fully agreed that simple formatting changes, without any alterations to the text, should certainly be allowed. It's just like making something a link, it only adds to the look and feel of the wiki without changing content, which stays within the spirit of the site. —DottieHoffmann
2008-03-23 16:25:09 I concur. Nobody seems to have objected the times in the past that this has been done. —DaveMahon
2008-05-28 17:26:57 I'd like to propose a note about Quick Edits:
RocWiki makes available a "Quick Edit" feature, accessible by double clicking on the page. This feature is ONLY for minor edits including wiki formatting, spelling and minor grammar fixes. It is NOT intended for the addition or removal of content, because it provides no provision for explaining what was done and the rationale behind it. Violation of this policy is not in and of itself an offense, however.
Sound fair? —DaveMahon
2008-07-11 12:06:11 As to Humor, Don't be a Jerk, etc.

DO UNTO OTHERS AS YOU WOULD HAVE THEM DO UNTO YOU
-
What would your mother/spouse/children/significant-other think of your edit job
-
Would a printout from the RocWiki edit be helpful in your folder when being considered for an investment, job, promotion (or parole) —BradMandell
2008-07-11 12:09:30 @Brad: Codifying the ethic of reciprocity (Do Unto Others...) as a separate section on [WCEQ] is probably well worth it. Good idea. Want to try your hand at it? ;) —JaySweet
2008-07-11 12:33:23 @JaySweet - consider it on my list. Perhaps I should title it DO UNTO OTHERS AS YOU WOULD HAVE THEM DO UNTO YOUR SIGNIFICANT OTHERS—BradMandell
