2010-08-12 12:43:50   Very very tasty, had the lobster twin tail dish and it was out of this world! Maybe a little pricey, but well worth the visit, and worth going back to! —AGoldman

2010-08-30 10:47:00   We ate here on Friday evening. We called and was told the wait time was 1 hour. We were OK with that and had a good time at the bar. When we arrived we were surprised that the waiting room and bar area was not crowded! About 50 minutes later we had our table. We ordered the tuna tartar and crab cake appetizers. After 30 minutes I asked our server where the apps were. The manager comped us the appetizers since it took so long. The crab cakes were dry. The tuna tartar was pretty good though. We were halfway through with the appetizers when the entrees appeared. We both had the grilled fresh fish. Mine was flavorless and so was my husbands. The brown rice on the plate was so bland I could not eat it. We were about 1/3 through the entree when our server asked us if we would be having coffee or dessert. The food was average at best and the service was poor. We won't be returning - it was certainly not worth the $23 we paid for our entrees. —SueZee

2010-11-04 20:52:59   Went on a Thursday night. Short wait. Nice atmosphere. A little loud. Pricey but have large portions. —ScottHendler

2010-11-05 09:24:32   I'm going next Friday. I looked at the menu online and this is not New England Fare by any stretch of the imagination. They don't even offer whole belly clams! It might be good but everything seems to be alacart. I'll report back soon. ;-) —NewtonNola

2011-05-22 22:14:26   I recommend this place- been here 3x. Never had bad service like above poster. The west coast calamari was tasty. Love the corn bread on the side. Only thing I didn't like was the wild rice side. Both times I got the lobster dinner it was great though. —JohnBarry

2011-08-20 07:26:15   Very tasty- our party enjoyed our experience very much. Jonathan was our server and he was fabulous- attentive and fun. We were seated in a little almost private room off the bar (four of us at a table of eight)- which leads me to believe that 8pm on a Friday night is a great time to go go not have a long wait (could be a fluke). We had the bang bang calamari- good sauce, nice and crisp. Other items ordered: oysters on the halfshell (small and not very tasty- only item we wouldn't have again), fried pickles (yum) blackened mahi mahi with fruit salsa and saffron rice (rice wasn't terrific), lobster and crab mac and cheese (delicious) and the king crab dinner (in a pot with sausage, potatoes, corn- way too much to manage in one sitting but delicious). The cornbread was great- a little lemon sorbet was a nice light treat at the end of the meal. We will go back for a special occasion (was about $120 per couple including tip) so not our average evening out- but not something we wouldn't do again, either. —ShawnaLusk

2011-08-27 19:23:15   Wife and I just got back. We went @ 5:30 Wheelchair access good but only 2 Handicapped parking spots. Wasn't busy..seated quickly. Server was properly attentive-nice kid. Corn Bread was good. Wife had Fish Fry-came with a small dish of coleslaw and homemade potato chips. Could have gotten a larger one cheaper at Jay's Diner. I had the Lobster/Crab Mac n Cheese. Kind of bland-would've hoped for something tastier. No included Salad or Veggie-really disappointed in that. We won't go back. —PeteB

2011-09-17 08:34:09   Ate there last week. We were told there was a 20 minute wait for a table so ordered drinks at the bar. Five minutes later we were seated. Ordered an appetizer and dinners and had barely started to eat appetizer when our meals were brought out so it felt very rushed. Food was ok, but overpriced for what you got. You pay extra for salads, side dishes etc. Seafood baskets are served with potato chips. I paid 20 dollars for a small piece of fish and 6 very small scallops. If the basket wasn't so filled with chips it would have looked empty. Staff was friendly and we were treated well. —FGeorge

2011-12-08 19:36:59   I have been to both the Crab Shack and Joe's Crab Shack and feel the Crab Shack is by far superior. Their food and service is fantastic. Their cocktails make me feel like I am on a beach vacation. I love the sea gull sounds in the backround and the smell of sea salt in the air. The best part about the crab shack is that it is a locally owned family business. —HeatherOh

2012-01-28 21:00:07   Been here a few times now since my first visit in August 2010, service is still very nice and food comes out relatively quickly, but prices have increased to an overpriced range, and fish quality has significantly dropped - it's moist, but bland! The steak too with the Surf & Turf was just very tough. Funny enough, the side dishes seem to be very good - salt potatoes and corn bread are good as well as the sauteed vegetables. Would not recommend the saffron rice —AGoldman

2012-06-13 14:38:22   We saw picnic tables and assumed they were for outside dining. I guess they don't normally have outdoor seating, but they let us eat out there anyway (so the tables are just for decor?). I thought it was pretty nice of them to let us do that and I appreciate our server for having to run in and out just for us. The appetizer was the best calamari I've ever had. I ordered one of the steampots and managed to get through the whole thing which I wasn't expecting. It was just that good. —IanNorfolk

2012-06-26 19:15:22   I have been there twice, once during the soft opening and one time during this past holidays. Both times had deadliest catch (3 lbs of King Crab) which was very good. The food and service was very good. Only thing for me is the price is a bit high since it first started but I guess you got to pay for fresh food. I will go there again for my next special occasion.

Alex-C, I meant for the other fish stuff that my group had. —bonnev659

2012-06-26 20:46:13   Note: Alaskan king crab is FROZEN, and is certainly NOT fresh. —alex-c

2012-10-08 11:45:15   Lots of food all with lots of butter, salt, and sugar. Kitschy interior. Waitstaff trying too hard to be energetic. If you like chain restaurants that advertise on prime-time network TV, you will probably like this. —RobertFrapples

2014-10-04 00:44:59   Went here for the first time tonight and we were VERY impressed. Service was spot-on. We had two servers taking care of our table (and we were only a party of two), and they managed to be perfectly attentive yet without hovering or pressuring us. One of the servers recommended the bisque as an appetizer, and we took her recommendation. Wow, was she ever right! Probably the best lobster bisque I've ever had (and we were just in Maine a month ago), Even comes with a bit of sherry that you can pour in at your discretion, which we did halfway through (albeit wished we'd done sooner, because it really amplified the flavors, taking the dish from excellent to out-of-this-world). Cornbread was served just after the soup, and was pretty darn good— not too sweet or buttery like some places that overdo it, but definitely not dry or crumbly, either. The drinks: I took a risk and got a cocktail off of their specials board. Normally I avoid cocktails at restaurants I haven't been to, because they are invariably too sweet (and lack any discernible alcohol)— but, this one was a perfect balance. My spouse ordered a glass of wine which was a reasonable price for the brand/style. His crabcake sandwich was excellent. I wasn't wowed by my entree (the crab and avocado salad), but there was certainly nothing wrong with it... It just wasn't exceptional for the price. After we finished, one of the servers brought us a complimentary lemon sorbet as a palate cleanser— it was so delicious that had it been on the dessert menu, I may have been tempted to order it, even though I was very full at that point! All in all this place left us very satisfied. We had a Groupon (or a Perks or Living Social; I don't remember which), but will definitely be back even at regular price. In fact we plan to go again in the next few weeks just for happy hour at the bar to order some drinks and that fantastic bisque!! —Enfys15
