Elmwood Inn is a little bar/restaurant near the University of Rochester campus and Mt. Hope Cemetery on the corner of Mt. Hope Avenue and Elmwood Avenue. It has a college/sports atmosphere, with good, reasonably-priced food, and a good selection (about forty) brews and microbrews on tap1.
An under-appreciated, but supremely bad-ass feature: side-by-side dartboards allowing head-to-head play, with a television display. That is, two people can play each other in a number of timed or untimed games, each with their own board. Ponder this feat of awesomeness.

2005-07-22 12:10:04 Shhhhhh! This is one of the best townie bars around, despite being the closest bar to the U of R Campus. Enjoy it wisely, and don't expect loud music and a meat market. —JackCalcines

2006-12-10 16:15:05 Great wings, cooked crispy. Not with skin that the chicken could still be wearing like at the chains. The 'Suicide" style has just the right balance of max heat while allowing the flavor to come through. —JoeMurty

2007-10-25 16:05:24 I've always found the service to be extremely friendly and usually pretty fast. The menu has a nice variety of bar food and regular entrees, and there are usually lots of interesting specials. —RachelBlumenthal
2008-01-17 16:52:27 As someone who went here as a UR student 'back in the day', walking in now always freaks me out for a few minutes. I don't know whether they 'classed up the joint' and drove students away, or whether the remodel / re-concept was a response to the Saturday night drinking drinking crowds drying up and leaving them without a core market, but I suspect it was the latter. In any case, this place is VERY different than it used to be (for the better, I suppose, although I do get nostalgic for when it was darker and dirtier), and even still, I don't know if it's really anything special. It's a decent bar with (just) decent food - I wouldn't go there ever if it were out of my way. Am I missing something? —BrendonTroy

2008-02-20 11:24:59 Went Friday night for a fish fry. The place was packed - nice support for a local joint. We sat in the sun room or whatever you call it. Our server was exceptional. She was very friendly and seemed to have a rapport with every table. She handled a loud-mouthed group of four sitting across from us, like a champ. The food was plentiful and very good. Nice coleslaw. —BigPun
- 1The standard fare is available, with a few on-tap beers of note: Newcastle Brown Ale, Blue Moon Belgian White, Stella Artois
