2007-05-14 10:28:28 Does anyone here know the phone number for the summer softball leagues at Cobb's Hill? —TimmyYoung
2007-05-21 20:51:05 I don't know if I'm just dumb, but is there a page for general questions about stuff in rochester and not really about Rocwiki. I was wondering if anyone had info on adult sports leagues. —JohnJoseph
2007-07-12 14:02:59 I added Quinlan's pub and the page has http://www.rocwiki.org/Quinlan%27s_Pub
and when I search for quinlan it comes up empty.
I put them in because they now have open wireless
How does one fix that besides putting in a new page?
the apostrophe is not legal in the names? etc. I can add them again under their other name, K J Quinlan Pub and Brew, if needed without the apostrophe. Answer to general questions about rochester previous comment: inforochester.com may help —JackGreenky
2007-07-12 19:00:12 The search feature on this site is a little idiosyncratic and sometimes doesn't return results with punctuation. However, if you search for Quinlan's on Google, you'll find that the first link is the page you made on RocWiki. You'll also find that the Wifi Hotspots and Pubs/Bars pages link to it, so you're all set. —DaveMahon
2007-07-12 20:01:30 The search issue is a known issue and we're working on it. One interim solution is to rename the page (rename is one of the buttons on the edit page) to the "real" name. Rename leaves the old page as a redirect so no links are broken. —RottenChester
2007-09-26 14:12:07 Why can't I add Spirits Review a LOCAL webpage to the Food and Drinks Section ? —ChristopherCarlsson
Spirits Review discusses the relative qualities of myriad spirits and your adventures in finding and trying them. If local spirits appear on there (I didn't check all that hard), they certainly aren't the primary focus of the site.
2008-02-28 00:31:53 I think that Organizations should be a subject heading, on par with services, etc. rather than under Living. Related note, there is no clear location for organizations that are not spiritual or non-profit as far as I can tell. —MantraSix
2008-04-28 17:35:03 Much cleaner look...much less cluttered —PeteB
2008-04-30 17:49:09 I like the look! Seems good. —BadFish
2008-05-01 09:31:40 I would rather see "Current Events" above "Important Reminders", but aside from that, I like it better than the current front page. —AlexanderGartley
2008-05-01 18:06:31 I went back and forth on that a lot. It's useful to have meeting reminders near the top, but it is nice to emphasize the various things to be done in town. I'm open to changing it though. Anybody else have a strong opinion one way or the other? —DaveMahon
2008-05-01 18:17:27 Well, I think the info in "Important Reminders" should be on top, but visually, it looks like "Current Events" should be on top. Any way to leave the information where it is but switch the layouts? (Are you following me on that?) —BadFish
2008-05-23 17:32:23 First time user...trying to locate an article that was published in todays (5-23-08) Rochester Business Journal. Is this possible? Thanks for any help. —Helen
2008-09-03 14:14:41 TWO TASTE DOT COM is history. —BradMandell
2008-09-07 09:33:55 From August 6 through September 5, the following links off the Front Page got at least 100 clicks: Jobs, Apartments, Shopping, Restaurants, Famous Residents, Summer Guide, Events Board, People.
From June 23 through September 6, the following links off the Front Page got 0 clicks: Farm Markets, Farmers' Markets, Pharmacies, Rocwiki, Want to help (the latter two are in the intro paragraph at the top of the page) —DaveMahon
2008-09-07 10:35:38 I suspect folks get to the learn more, click through and don't need the welcome your help. Does the Want To Help page get many hits from the other link-ins Wiki Community and Wiki Community/RocWiki in the Classroom? I just did some click throughs myself so the count will be of next time.
I suspect that a lot of newcomers to the site come mostly via search engine hits or external links to one of our pages. A great feature would be to recognize that and automatically add a button link to the Welcome Your Help page. Is there any tweakable functionality around the USerName - NewUSer Login distinction at the top of page. One thought would be to have a conditional FrontPage for never-been-seen users, returning users (cookie only), and logged in (cookie) users.
2008-10-28 10:14:46 How do I create a new article? I don't see any links for that. —MaxCalvada
2008-11-29 17:10:36 Hi, I started a page on RocWiki a long time ago, but now I don't see how I can do that. I host a weekly comedy show in Rochester and we'd like to get it listed here. How can I do so? Thanks. —MaxCalvada
2008-12-05 13:19:20 when I click on a user name it goes to a not found page? —JosephFerrara
2009-03-14 22:59:04 What is the best way to handle bad links? Should I remove the link or somehow mark it bad, but preserve the original? —WayneArthurton

2009-05-05 08:28:03 Anybody have a landscape/stonescape contractor they love? I was looking for someone good to build a flagstone patio in my yard. —chrissyortiz
2009-11-18 14:29:00 I have a proposed edit for the intro paragraph on the Front Page. It would be great if in the part that says "what they love or loathe about their city" the word "love" was a wiki link to the Optimism page, and the word "loathe" was a link to the Pessimism page.
Just a thought :) —AlexanderGartley
2009-11-18 15:28:58 I like it, Alexander! That's a minor-enough change that I think we can just go ahead and do it. It's only linking and doesn't change the structure or format of the paragraph. If there are any comments, we can discuss it on the list. —PeteB
2009-12-14 14:44:40 How does the bookmark feature work? —martingugino
2009-12-21 12:47:36 Would it be possible to change the sort order of the comments so that the new comments appear at the top, and the older comments move down the page after a few years? —martingugino
2010-01-12 19:30:00 Hey RocWiki folks. I'm a former Rochesterain and I started BufWiki cuz I missed how awesome this wiki is. Brad Mandell came over to help and had practically run it. I need your help to show him some love. He's going through some tough time, but I thought it would be cool if we had something like a million tweet salute. Check out my blog post about it and please send me your responses. Thanks all.
2011-12-12 13:49:30 We need to add a "Breweries" link to the Home page so that the many (new-ish) local breweries (Naked Dove, Roc Brewing, 3HB, etc) can get some air time like the local wineries. —huxley75
2012-08-28 16:26:23 Can someone add a Food Truck Category within the restaurants? I can't seem to figure out where I can create a new page. Thanks! —gordonanderson
2012-08-28 17:03:06 I think we should just rename Street Meat to Food truck or create a food truck page and redirect to Street Meat. —Damiankumor
2012-08-29 12:56:41 I guess I can't edit the front page, but someone should fix the spelling error: "Submt a logo for the RocWiki Logo Contest!!!" —MattDana
2012-08-29 13:18:22 I ficxed it. Thanks Matt —peteb
2012-09-16 07:16:28 how can you suggest more restarants
2012-09-16 18:16:04 It's a wiki, you can create any restaurant you know about. To get started try a search first, and if that doesn't come up you'll get instructions on how to create the page. —Damiankumor
2012-11-28 11:46:22 Does anyone know how to insert a twitter follow button into a page? I attempted to use the code from twitter but it appears to be too much html/java for it to work. —MattSosenko
Matt sorry but the Twitter button format won't work in our current format. —PeteB
2013-05-29 10:19:20 Looking for some business related events or non profit fundraising events. any ideas??? —jamesr
2013-09-01 14:31:10 I read on Urban Spoon that Fujiya Japanese Restaurant (2215 Empire Blvd Webster, NY) closed. —DaveHanks
2014-03-16 15:44:27 how about info on diamonds bar and dance club?
2014-04-28 09:37:07 Why is Alternative Medicine featured on the RocWiki Front Page to the exclusion of Medical Practices? I have nothing against Alternative Medicine but have to believe that more people are interested in "traditional" medical practives than alternatives at this point.
On a similar note, Why is Wegmans featured on the Front Page to the exclusion of Grocery Stores? I love Weggies as much as, or more than, the next guy (and it is a prominent Rochester-based business) but don't know why it is the only single/unique business that makes the Front Page? —jgerek
2014-04-28 11:24:43 Good point. —Damiankumor
2014-05-05 12:19:14 I am looking for a needle in a haystack, and need some help. I am searching for the drummer of a band (do not know the name of the band) that used to play at FREGY'S / CLUB 11 in/on Marion Road, in the Early 1970's. I am doing this to help a loved one. My cousin is the child of this drummer, she has never met him and is unsure if her mother ever even informed him she was pregnant. The mother will not give her, or does not have any additional information except this: His name is Randy Crawford-Crawson or last name being some thing of the like. It is believed that he is originally from Wisconsin. The mothers name is Joyce, she lived in Rochester at the time of conception.
I am also a child who did not met their biological father (until me early teens). I understand my loved ones concern want to find and meet her biological father. She also has a daughter, and would like to get her biological grandpa's medical history. —hknutson
2014-05-25 09:32:37 Suggest the general link to Transportation be added to the Front Page somewhere, possibly in lieu of Taxi Services. Transportation is an important subject to residents and visitors alike, and that page is a gateway to a lot of other important stuff - inclding Taxi Services. —jgerek
Agreed & done. -PeteB
2015-07-08 19:06:02 I see you have the clothesline festival listed as Sept 5-6. On their website it says it is Sept 12-13. Which site is correct? —SherryV
2015-11-13 17:44:04 I want to throw my boyfriend an amazing Rochester themed surprise birthday party! We live in Honolulu, my boyfriend was born and raised in Rochester; misses and loves it.
So far I plan on making trash plates, pizza logs and fried cake. I will be making everything from scratch since there are no places here that make these delicious things.
I would greatly appreciate any feed back and Ideas on how to bring Rochester to him for the day.
Thank you all! —TiffanyLuu
2015-11-20 15:14:39 Can someone with access delete the "Residences" wiki link on the homepage? That page was deleted back in May 2015. Thanks! —alexandergartley
2016-01-18 17:31:32 2016-01-15 17:26 Would like to add a blurb for Flower City pickers, a group that takes food headed for the land fill and salvages what's edible for shelters and the homeless and the rest for animal food and composting. What catergory would be the best to locate it under?: —JosephPearson
2016-01-18 21:41:19 Joseph, probably easiest to use the "business" template and generate a new page for your pickers group. Just type the "Flower City Pickers" into the search box, and it will ask you if you want to create a new page, then pick the template and fill in from there. —DottieHoffmann
2016-05-23 15:54:39 Can someone remove the "Music Events" wiki link? I deleted the page because it hadn't been updated since 2012, and there's no one actively updating it. There's much better sources for music events off the wiki. Thanks. —alexandergartley
2016-05-23 16:58:06 Nevermind, I instead transformed the Music Events page into a landing page with info about music events in Rochester. Much better! —alexandergartley
2016-06-13 07:20:01 Does anyone here remember the band Quarter Moon from the 1980s? —AndyStasko
