The Tango Cafe is a dance studio and bistro in the Jonathan Child House. They offer a variety of classes including Argentine Tango, Salsa, Lindy Hop, Ballroom, and Circle Dance, as well as fitness classes.

The cafe portion offers two regularly scheduled Sunday brunches featuring a special theme and dance-along, as well as a live music on Saturdays and a "Dinner and Show" every Sunday evening. They also do catering and have space for private events. Friday night is host to the Viernes Social Salsa Party.

Tange Cafe was originally located at 389 Gregory Street in the South Wedge/Highland Park Neighborhood. In September of 2009, they expanded to take over the actual cafe on the first floor of the building (formerly The Mez). The cafe was open for lunch and hosted various dance socials and open mics events in the evening. Tango Cafe moved to their current space in the Cascade District on July 1, 2014.

2009-10-16 21:26:52   The new cafe is open for business, but I haven't yet had a chance to check out the menu. From the presence of a coffee wholesalers car out front today I'm going to assume java will be provided. Through the window the cafe looks a bit spartan at the present time with a few basic tables and chairs scattered about. —MaryAnneSchnarkles
