Pakistan House Restaurant has closed and has been replaced with P. H. Express Catering & Takeout at the same location and different phone number.
Pakistan House Restaurant opened in 2003, and was affiliated with the South Asian ethnic grocery store, Desi Bazaar. They have some of the very best South Asian non-vegetarian food in town — particular standouts are their keema naan, a crisp Indian bread stuffed with minced beef or chicken, haleem (a delicacy made with lentils, mutton and wheat) and nihari (a beef stew) — to my knowledge, they're the only place in the Rochester area where these dishes are available. Of course, they also offer more standard fare, such as chicken tikka, tandoori chicken, etc — the quality varies. They have an all-you-can-eat, all-day buffet on weekends, which usually includes both nihari and haleem — these dishes are not usually available on weekdays. The kulfi (South Asian ice cream) is also often excellent; they offer a choice between mango and pistachio. — Karan Vaswani
As of May 2007, the restaurant appeared closed and as of June 2007, a "For Sale" sign was posted on the property. — DaveMahon
Pakistan House is still open. They just in the process of moving. The owner wants to open up near or in RIT's coming "College Town."
Pakistan House is temporarily located on Jefferson Road, in the plaza (which also has a cleaners) next to the RIT entrance. -AmyLula
The new location is a Take-out place called P.H. Xpress located 39 Jefferson Rd, Rochester, NY -DeepBhatt

2005-10-10 06:10:09 The prices are expensive and I wasn't impressed with the quality of the food, but I've only eaten there a couple times. —RossHattori
2006-05-30 08:33:58 Great service! They make me feel like family every time I go. They give baskets of fluffy, buttery nan for free. The daily lunch buffet is awesome, with great variety of rice, meats dishes, veggie dishes, and desserts. The quality of the food is good, with great flavors. —BenMargolis
2006-07-21 13:12:50 Somewhat tough if you don't do spicy. My Indian Muslim friend loves this place: quote, "their food is really close to what I grew up with in Northern India". —ChristineLeo
2006-08-08 06:22:31 The food may look Indian, but we were in for a pleasant surprise. We had the Sunday buffet, which was light, very tasty, and satisfying. We'll definitely be back. —RemekKocz
2006-11-19 16:48:24 The buffet is always good and the staff are friendly. I've been a number of times and will continue to go. —StevenDibelius
2007-02-22 20:46:48 Dinner for two, including appetizers, entrees and desert came to less than $35 tonight. The food was excellent, particularly the naan. —DaveMahon
2007-02-23 05:09:11 Had dinner for 2 there, prices were less than Tandoor and House of India, but the food was not as good. The Chicken biryani came with bones, and the biryani wasn't as good as Tandoor. —AdamFrankel
2007-05-02 14:42:15 this place is delicious and affordable. the vegetarian dishes are all meagerly priced, but the portions are ridiculously large! the staff is so friendly, and the service is excellent. i would recommend this place to anyone without hesitation.
fyi: chicken biryani is supposed to be cooked with bone-in chicken, it adds more flavor to the rice.
2008-01-29 20:48:51 Well, actually, "Pakistan House" is not "temporarily" located on Jefferson rd; Its new name is P.H. Xpress, and its there Permanently. The place that supposedly its moving too in College Town is actually going to be a Convenient store and not the restaurant —HamzaKamal
