Livingston County is due south of Monroe County along Interstate 390 and is part of the Rochester, NY Metropolitan Statistical Area. The county was named after after Robert R. Livingston, delegate to the 1775 Continental Congress, member of the committee that drafted the Declaration of Independence.
The county remains heavily rural and agricultural.
