Route 39 is primarily a rural road through farms and small towns. At its Avon terminus, Route 39 intersects with Routes 5 and 20 near the intersection of "Rochester Road", which shortly becomes East River Road. Yes, the very same East River Road that passes RIT, Jefferson Road, Genesee Valley Park and eventually forms an on-ramp for I-390.
