St. Paul-North Water Streets Historic District

North Water Street St. Paul Street

The St. Paul - North Water Street Historic District refers to a three streets of downtown's St. Paul Quarter. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1984 as "Monroe County - #84000398" and consists of 17 intact commercial, manufacturing, and warehouse buildings on nine acres.

From about the 1890s to the mid-twentieth century this area was the center of Rochester's huge industry of ready-made men's clothing. Companies with factories and headquarters in this area included the Adler Brothers & Co., Fashion Park, Inc., and Michaels-Stern & Co. Today, most of these have been converted to lofts with bars, restaurants, and clubs on the ground floors. Prominent addresses include:
