Summary In January 2007, RocWiki received roughly 5,000 page views per day, from around 1,400 unique visits. The Front Page and Recent Changes were the most popular pages, followed by the Restaurants page. 70% of visitors come here via Google. Almost 80% of visits came from New York state, and 58% of the NY visits are from Rochester. Between January 16th (when stats were implemented) and the 31st, RocWiki received 22,004 unique visits and 89,364 pageviews (average 4 Pageviews/visit).

First Half of 2007

For the first half of 2007, we had over 200,000 unique visitors. The average RocWiki visitor stays for a little over 5 minutes, and views roughly 4 pages. Since the start of the year, we've had almost 1.5 million pageviews. We're averaging roughly 1,500 unique visits per day. 58% of our users browse with Internet Explorer, 33% use Firefox, and 7% use Safari. Roughly 85% of our users are on high-speed (DSL, Cable or T-1) connections. The most popular pages, after the front page, are Recent Changes and Restaurants. Almost 3/4 of our traffic comes from Google searches.

July, 2008

Statistics were broken after our Wiki update, so a few weeks of stats were lost. To provide a rough idea of current traffic, in the first 10 days of July, RocWiki had 27,309 visits (almost double January, 2007's total) and averaged 10,000 page views per day, doubling our January, 2007 traffic. 56% of browsers used Internet Explorer, 35% used Firefox, and 8% used Safari. The most popular pages are the same, and we're getting 85% of our traffic from search engines, with 73% from Google. Broadband use is about the same as it was last year. 77% of our visitors were from New York, and the vast majority of those were from Rochester and its suburbs.

As of July 10, we had 7,652 pages and 3,296 registered users (2,173 with at least one edit). We are averaging 3.02% of one Xeon 2.4GHz processor and pushing a little more than 1GB of traffic per day. Last (brief) outage was on June 26, and was caused by RyanTucker thinking that it'd be smart to turn off swap overnight "just to see what would happen." Memcached is huge, RocWiki. Huuuuuuuuuge.

November 2008

As of November 12, 2008, there were 8463 pages on this wiki. There were 3731 registered users on the wiki, of whom 2620 had made at least one edit. CPU utilization average was 3.45% of one host CPU and traffic was about 1.5 GB per day. On November 8, we switched to lighttpd to reduce memory consumption with solid results. memcached hit rate was 92.60% with a 64mb cache.

From October 12 to November 11, RocWiki had 99,018 visits, with the monthly peak on November 7th with 4,046 visits. Daily average pageviews was 11,200. 54.9% of users used IE, 33.7% used Firefox, and 9.1% used Safari. 50.3% used cable modem and 12.9% used DSL; only 2.3% used dialup. 74.2% of traffic was referred by Google, 8.6% from Yahoo, and 7.4% was direct (i.e. putting rocwiki.org in the address bar, using bookmarks, etc). Aside from various forms of "rocwiki," our top 5 most popular search engine keywords were "rochester public market," "Arthur Shawcross," "beers of the world," "house of guitars," and "century liquor." (It appears not even serial killers, booze, and rock n' roll can beat the Public Market.)

Our top 5 landing pages (where people end up first), not including the Front Page (obviously #1), were Recent Changes, Restaurants, Upscale Restaurants, Bars, and Italian Food. Our top 5 non-index pages (I'm excluding pages like Restaurants here) were Aladdin's Natural Eatery, Public Market, Oddities, Plum Garden, and Virtu.
