The trip back to Rush Rhees Library follows the same path until Alexander Street and South Clinton Avenue, where the bus turns south towards Gregory Street. This provides easier access to the most northern spots in the South Wedge.
Bus 72 is also called the red line and was formerly called the yellow line. This is an RTS bus that runs from Rush Rhees Library at the University of Rochester to the Eastman School of Music campus in downtown Rochester. The bus is free to UR and RIT students and faculty with valid university ID.
During normal operation, the bus follows two routes, the direct route and the Monroe/Park detour route. The detour route operates in the evenings as well as all day on Tuesday and Thursday. It is best to check the current schedule at the RTS schedule page as it undergoes routine changes. When the UR is not in session, the bus operates on a severely limited schedule.
Direct Route
This route travels from Rush Rhees Library to Mt. Hope, then down Alexander Street to University Avenue before heading down Main Street to the Eastman School of Music. Convenient access is provided on this route to the following (in geographical order):
Monroe/Park Avenues Detour
This detour opens up easy access to some of Rochester's gems. The detour leaves Alexander Street on Monroe Avenue towards I-490, then heads back to Alexander Street on Park Avenue. By leaving the bus at Park Avenue and Barrington Street, one can walk a short distance to the George Eastman House. Here are a few highlights one can visit on this detour route:
