As all residents of Upstate New York know, Buffalo-style chicken wings — complete with blue cheese dressing and celery — originated at The Anchor Bar on Main Street in Buffalo in 1964. Chicken Wings (aka wings) are a serious part of the Middle/Western NY cooking scene. Buffalo Wings, are of course, the most famous variety.

Rochester Wings are a distinct culinary tradition with a tangy sauce. An example of this style is Country Sweet.

2007-03-26 19:43:16   The best wings I've ever had are the Spicy Garlic hot wings at Buffalo Wild Wings, and the ones at Dinosaur BBQ. Local snobs maybe sneer that these aren't local companies, but they're still the best. —TravisOwens

2008-06-02 01:36:58   I think MacGregor's has the best wings in town. They're served (physically) HOT, unlike most wing joints, and even the unbattered wings are crispy. When I get hot wings here they're both hot in my mouth and spicy, unlike pretty much any other place in town. I actually really dislike the food at MacGregor's, but they make a mean wing :) —MariahBetz

2008-06-13 23:56:18   This page is seriously lacking in what I believe to be the most amazing wings in town: Mr. Shoe's on South Ave. Myself and a number of my friends are addicted. They are the meatiest wings I have ever seen and their sauce is homemade and slightly different every time. All too often we find ourselves ordering a large pizza and 20 or 30 wings for lunch while on the RIT campus. If you haven't tried their wings yet, I highly recommend it! I'm moving across the country for my doctorate in the fall and Mr. Shoes will be sorely missed. —AndrewWagner
